Research background
AICAR (5-aminoimidazole-4-carboxamide ribonucleotide) is a nucleoside analogue, not a peptide. Inside the cell it is converted to ZMP, which mimics AMP and thereby activates AMP-activated protein kinase — the enzyme that acts as a central sensor of cellular energy status. It is long established as a standard research tool for AMPK activation, and appears widely in cellular-energy-metabolism and exercise-physiology literature. Because AMPK sits at the centre of many pathways, effects observed with AICAR are typically broad rather than specific. Research Use Only. Not for human or veterinary use.
Supplied as a lyophilised powder for laboratory research use only. Any context described above refers to published preclinical or in-vitro research — not to human or veterinary use.
