Research background
Melanotan 2 is a synthetic cyclic analogue of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone. Its cyclic structure makes it considerably more stable than the natural hormone, and it binds melanocortin receptors non-selectively. Research examines Melanotan 2 in melanocortin-receptor signalling and melanogenesis in cell and animal models. That non-selective receptor binding is central to how the literature reads it: effects reported across studies are diffuse rather than confined to a single pathway. Evidence is preclinical. Supplied as a lyophilised powder for laboratory research use only. Any context described above refers to published preclinical or in-vitro research — not to human or veterinary use.
