Research background
PT-141, also known as bremelanotide, is a synthetic cyclic heptapeptide derived from Melanotan II. Unlike its parent compound it acts primarily through central melanocortin receptors rather than producing pigmentary effects. Research examines PT-141 through melanocortin-receptor signalling, principally MC3R and MC4R, in preclinical neuroendocrine models. The compound has been the subject of a separate pharmaceutical development programme; that programme is distinct from, and does not describe, material supplied for laboratory research. Research Use Only. Not for human or veterinary use.
Supplied as a lyophilised powder for laboratory research use only. Any context described above refers to published preclinical or in-vitro research — not to human or veterinary use.
