Research background

Bacteriostatic water is sterile water containing 0.9% benzyl alcohol as a preservative. The benzyl alcohol inhibits bacterial growth, which is what allows a vial to be accessed more than once rather than discarded after a single use. It is the standard diluent for reconstituting lyophilised research peptides. Add the diluent slowly against the vial wall rather than directly onto the powder, and do not shake — peptides are susceptible to shear damage from agitation.
